Weather! I predict a riot.

As I write this post please note the following. 'The miseducation of Lauryn Hill' is on in the background. (Despite her being an anti semite this really is a fantastic album)

I would like to briefly discuss something that is deep within all our hearts and effects us on a daily basis. Weather.

It is a well know British cliche to discuss the weather, often eyes will roll upon in depth mention of the weather, as I found out on Saturday night when I, with no irony, or post modern statement on society asked the group at my table (friends) 'what they had thought of the weather at the moment?'
Truthfully, I enjoy this topic for 2 reasons....
1 - It has universal appeal, regardless of age, I.Q, ethnicity, or physical abnormality. Everyone around the table can join in without fear of ridicule, or judgement when talking about the said weather.
2 - Why not talk about it?..your all thinking about it... Will it be warm tonight? should I take a jacket? Will it rain? do I need an umbrella? or even.... I hope it does not rain while i'm walking to the pub. The weather creates your whole evening.
3 - The weather can fill many an awkward conversation and a fantastic ice breaker. On entering an interview for example, a slight comment on the weather can really ease you in, or a date, or even those awkward moments in Tesco when you wait for the chip and pin transaction to complete. Working in the service industry I come into contact with people i dont know everyday and have to speak with them...Talking about the weather often increases a tip! So financially its beneficial NOT to shy away from this topic.

Agree or disagree?

The weather is a brilliant conversation! Stereotypically English but whats wrong with that!
